Today’s Real Wedding Submission comes to us from Be Light Photography. Morgan and Grant tied the knot on Sept. 27, 2014 at the Cypress Inn Pavilion in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The day was perfectly inspired for a relaxed, fun afternoon by the Black Warrior River. We love the delicate lace back on the bride’s gown, the groom’s cheesecakes instead of a traditional cake, and some very well dressed young guests! Our favorite image though is the three generations of hands clasping and showing their symbols of commitment. Those are the images that will take your breath away for a lifetime even when loved ones are not near because that was an incredible moment in time that can never be taken away.
“My husband and I decided when we got engaged that we did not want an overly fancy wedding,” said Morgan. “We got married outside at the Cypress Inn gazebo and had our reception in the pavilion next door. Our church does not have a building and since we both enjoy the outdoors, Cypress Inn was a wonderful fit for us. I wanted our wedding to be rustic but not necessarily ‘country’ so I decided to go with more of a garden theme. I found a picture of a bouquet that I fell in love with and pretty much built my whole wedding around this picture of flowers. I chose simple, orange bridesmaid dresses that I thought would flatter everyone and match the flowers I had found in the picture. To compliment the bridesmaid dresses, we decided on grey suits for the men.”
“To stay a little more casual, we had our wedding at 4:00 in the afternoon and served heavy hors d’ oeuvres like bacon wrapped shrimp, prime rib sliders and buffalo chicken dip,” said Morgan. “Drinks included beer and wine as well as basics such as water and tea. My cakes were done by a friend of mine, and she did a tremendous job. The bridal cake was a buttercream pound cake with flowers from our arrangements for decoration, and my husband had a medley of three strawberry-topped cheesecakes. Strawberry cheesecake is Grant’s favorite dessert, so I thought this would be more enjoyable for him than a traditional chocolate cake. Not to mention, they turned out to be gorgeous! We opted not to have a first dance and decided to go with the trend of having lawn games. The pavilion has these amazing roll up garage-style doors and grass areas that really suited this decision well. People were able to flow easily from inside to outside, and the weather was perfect. We left around 7:30 in his car that everyone had decorated. I thought the end result of our wedding was a beautiful and laid back day. I would not have changed a thing.” (That’s what we like to hear!)
